LIONS TAKE - ON - TRENT
Lions travelled up to Nottingham on Saturday to play in the Radcliffe
Olympic Ladies 6 a side tournament for the second year running.
Leamington proceeded through the group stages by winning 4 and drawing 2 of
their games.
In the semi final they met Arnold and despite a Lauren Holland goal drew 1
- 1 after extra time.
The game was decided by penalties with Lions scoring 4 of their 5 and J.Lo
saving 2 Arnold pens and that meant that for the first time ever we won a
penalty shoot out ( hallelujah )
The final was against Lindby and Lions showed their class by racing into a
2 goal lead, both goals scored by ace striker Bex.
There was no further goals but Tash hit the bar with a screamer and Bex ,
Holland ,Alcock and Meg all went close.
This was a superb display by the Lions with all 7 girls performing very
well.
J.Lo and Em deserve special mentions for sharing the goalkeeping duties and
both only letting 1 goal in each all day.
Tash, Alcock, Holland, Meg and Bex were all outstanding also.
A big thanks to Radcliffe who as usual made us feel very welcome and put on
a super day which all the girls enjoyed.
