Learn and follow these guidelines to make our club
a happy and fun place to play football.
Coaches are the key to the establishment of ethics in football. Their concepts, ideas and attitudes towards the game directly affect the players in their control.
At all times the safety, health, well-being and moral education of players
is fundamentally more important than winning.
In this respect, these guidelines must be followed by all coaches in our club.
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of EVERY person and treat each
equally within the context of the sport.
Place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations,
including the development of performance.
Coaches must adhere to the guidelines laid down by governing bodies.
Coaches must develop appropriate working relations with every player
based on mutual respect and trust.
Coaches must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility
for their own behaviour and performance
Coaches must ensure that the activities they direct are appropriate for the age,
maturity, experience and ability of players.
Outline to all players what is expected of them and also
what they can expect from their coach
Coaches must always promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play)
and never condone violations of the Laws of the Game or
behaviour contrary to the spirit of the game.
Coaches must consistently display high standards of behaviour and appearance
Coaches must NEVER use or tolerate the use of inappropriate or bad language
All the children in our club play football because they love the game – it’s fun. However, parents and spectators have a great influence on
children’s enjoyment and success in the game.
A parents expectations and attitudes can have a significant bearing
on a child’s attitude towards:
* Other players
* Match Officials
* Managers
* Spectators
Ensure that you always display a positive and encouraging approach
towards ALL children, not just your own.
Follow these simple guidelines
* Applaud and recognise good play by BOTH teams
* Avoid coaching a child during the game
* Don’t shout and scream at a child/children
* Respect the referee’s decision
* Give attention and praise to each child, not just the most talented
Remember, positive encouragement produces results and influences children in the right way.
